Who am I?  

I am a Christian who believes the Bible and considers himself Born Again. My faith and hope are in God’s grace for my salvation.  The Works of Jesus Christ have saved me, paying the price for my sinfulness.

Why “Cynical” ?

Definition 1. believing that people are motivated by self-interest; distrustful of human sincerity or integrity.

synonyms: skeptical, doubtful, distrustful, suspicious, disbelieving; pessimistic, negative, world-weary, disillusioned, disenchanted, jaundiced, sardonic
antonyms: idealistic

Even though I am a Christian, I don’t see myself as Idealistic.  I am very skeptical of this world.  I am quite doubtful and distrustful, suspicious, and disbelieving towards my fellow man.  In Jeremiah 17:5

This is what the Lord says:“Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord.

and Matthew 10:16

“I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.

My trust is in God alone.  I am world-weary, and long for another country like it says in Hebrews 11:15-16

If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return.  Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

Definition 2. concerned only with one’s own interests and typically disregarding accepted or appropriate standards in order to achieve them.

I am concerned only with my own interests, which sounds quite selfish, unless you know what my interests are.  My interests are 1 Corinthians 10:31

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 

I live for the Glory of God.  I seek first His Kingdom and His Righteousness.  That’s my “selfish” motivation.  First: To Enjoy God. Forever.  Second: Help others to Enjoy God Forever. Help them find that eternal Joy.
